Why are emails appearing on my phone but not in Outlook app, but can be found through search in Outlook?

I’ve had several instances where emails have appeared on my phone, but not appeared on my PC. When I search within Outlook on the PC, the emails are found and can be opened, but still do not appear in the inbox.

Emails appear on phone but not in Outlook

Doing a ‘search’ in Outlook, the email appears in the search results and it’s folder location appears as ‘In Box’

Closing the search, the email is no longer apparent.

Closing Outlook and restarting does not fix it.

I closed outlook, deleted the .OST file and restarted Outlook – lots of emails appeared, including the missing one from above.

Is this a known issue and how do I resolve this organisation wide? I cannot delete the .OST file for every individual user...

I am also experiencing this issue. MS does not seem to be giving this problem any attention. I just can't trust Outlook any more. I nwill have to look for an alternative. Complete incompetence.

I found I was able to fix this issue by switching to the new outlook. Update your outlook on your PC.

Look to top right hand corner and switch to new outlook.

I fixed this by turning off "Show Focused Inbox" in View.

This happened to me at work as well (visible on iPhone but not in Inbox on laptop until I search for it). However changing the view in Outlook on the laptop from “All” to “Unread” back to “All” again seems to have fixed it (for now at least).

Not sure if my picture of where this is has been inserted properly. But refer to some pictures here to find the options to toggle between https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook\_com/forum/all/how-to-get-all-and-unread-options-on-outlook/50b272b5-c83f-481f-98a2-a039c619e38d

Based on your description, I understand that you have an issue "Why are emails appearing on my phone but not in Outlook app, but can be found through search in Outlook?"

    1. This issue could be caused by a synchronization problem between your phone and Outlook app.
