Importing old Outlook pst to New Outlook

A repair gave me the New Outlook. I need to import my old Outlook files into the new one.

I have a backup of the old Outlook pst. These are my questions:

  1. How can I get those files from the backup to the New Outlook?
  2. Am I able to pick and choose which files to import or will it just import everything from that backup?
  3. I tried going on the old computer to clean up Outlook and resave but I cannot get back into Outlook from the old computer. I get a dialogue box that says I have to open the file in Outlook but then says Outlook is no longer there.

Thank you for your time!

LynnA

I have about 100,000 archived emails and over 1,000 contacts in PST archives. Does MS expect me to send all of those to myself so I can save them as EML? Do I need to install my copy of Win8 Office Outlook to send the PST files to New Outlook?

Concur with the complaints already stated. What has kept me a loyal Outlook user for decades was the ability to have all my e-mail services (MS, gmail, other) in one place along with quick access to my off-line archived data. Now it's just been decided I don't need to do that anymore? This is a basic functionality of Outlook that just got stripped. (And not going to spam the thread with all the other feature losses for calendar appointments, contacts, etc.) I understand not getting around to full functionality of more obscure features like all the contact fields, but not being able to add/open pst files? Epic fail.

Exact the same issue here. I've had to change from Outlook 2013 to New Outlook in order to support newer security protocols. I use POP3 for all business and Charity emails and save and backup these via large .pst files. However since I can't import .pst to New Outlook it is a non-starter ! A serious blunder by MS! Can MS either fix this or make previous compatible versions of Outlook available please ?

Hi, I'm Diane and I'm happy to help you today.

New Outlook does not support pst files at this time, either to import or open.

Copy the pst to the new computer and use classic Outlook.

In new Outlook go to Help > Classic Outlook. That will turn it off - set up your profile in classic Outlook, opening the pst from the old computer in the profile. (Not importing)

Let me know how it goes, I'm here to help you further if needed.
