Q&A is spamming my inbox

Over the past several days dozens of old threads have been edited by @RobCaplan. Consequently, my email has been inundated by related notifications. Even worse, these old threads have been resurrected from the dead and now appear at the top of the chronological order when viewing the tags that I follow. This practice has incredible nuisance value. Not only do I have to weed my inbox to delete the notification spam but viewing site content has become more than a mild annoyance now that I have to wade past dozens of re-ordered old questions to find current items.

Please stop this incredibly annoying practice. What constructive purpose is served by this editing? At a minimum find a way to do edits without generating notification spam and corrupting the chronological ordering of content!!!

A small sample of the obstacle course that the Q&A site has now become --

Sorry for the spam! We didn't realize that would generate notifications.

This was needed to consolidate the Xamarin tags from 5 tags (dotnet-xamarinforms, dotnet-xamarinessentials, dotnet-ios, dotnet-android, dotnet-macos) into one dotnet-xamarin tag in preparation for adding MAUI support to Q&A. Unfortunately, because of limitations of the platform we weren't able to cleanly alter all of these from the back end and had to manually retag the dotnet-ios, dotnet-android, and dotnet-macos tags. That project is now complete and won't happen again. Feedback's taken to adjust on the backend if this needs to be done for other tags in the future.

Thanks for your response.

It's not just the spam. The chronological re-ordering of the edited content is a significant irritant and materially detracts from the usefulness of the site. That should be addressed also.

Unfortunately, due to platform limitations there wasn't a cleaner solution.

There are features on the backlog that will make manual retagging unnecessary for future similar consolidations, but they won't be ready in the time frame required for this one.
