When I send a link to a post on this forum to another user via e-mail, and that person clicks on the link, they are asked to sign in before being able to even view the post. This severely limits the ability of others to find issues, associated discussions and their solutions.
When I posted questions on the MSDN forums, I usually got responses from one or two people within a day, if not hours. Now, on this forum, I seem to only get a single response from a Microsoft employee, suggesting that the move to Q&A has lost a significant percentage of the developer audience that it would seek to engage. That further suggests to my that it would be a waste of my time to continue to use this forum.
When I posted questions on this forum, I was severely limited in what tags I could include. For example, I was prevented from including big-picture tags like 'C#' or 'WinForms', let alone anything more detailed like 'DataGridView' or 'ADO'. This means that experts in these areas are also not able to filter posts using such tags, in order to find posts that they could possibly answer. If I was an expert in any of these domains, I would not waste my time on this forum, but would focus my attention on other forums (e.g. StackOverflow, etc.).
This forum is not yet ready for prime-time, and needs serious attention if it will be able to survive at all.
