Windows 11. How can I identify incompatible drivers so I can turn on Memory Integrity?

I have tried to turn on Memory Integrity. Nothing happens when I push the "on" button. I push "Scan Again". I get a popup that says Memory Integrity cannot be turned on and I should resolve an incompatible drivers. I push the button "Remove incompatible drivers" and it takes me to a page "Incompatible drivers" that says resolving incompatibilities with these drivers will enable you to turn on Memory Integrity.

But no drivers are listed in the blank space. Only another prompt to Learn how to resolve problems with incompatible drivers, and when I push this it takes me to another page "Why do incompatible drivers prevent using Memory Integrity?"

What I need is to find out what drivers are incompatible so I can start the process to resolve the issue.

How do I find out which drivers are incompatible?

There are no incompatible drivers listed. I went through the entire device manager. It does not identify anything.

Is it okay if I just leave this thing off because I am sick and tired of my days being sidetracked by all this stuff. My rate of accomplishment is reduced by about60% because I have to research, trubleshoot, and implement all these fixes.

IF IT WANTS ME TO FIX A DRIVER IT BETTER TELL ME WHICH ONE IT IS. (My gues is it has something to do with Photoshop or Adobe or the graphics card. It is either that or my printer which is seriously old.... like an HP 1530mfp. If that is it, I refuse to buy a new printer.)

I am just amazed that the transition from windows 10 did not break more stuff on my computer... although the jury is still out on that I guess.

BUT PLEASE TELL ME HOW I CAN FIX IT IF IT DOES NOT REQUIRE ME TO GO INTO A DOS WINDOW AND START MUCKING ABOUT THERE.

If you can;t tell me that. Just tell me how bad it is to leave it off. because I give up. AIN'T GOT TIME FOR THIS.

Memory Integrity keeps malware out of high security processes during an attack so your system is not completely taken hostage or destroyed. It's very important this remains on (unless you hardly use your PC at all or maybe like... you never, ever connect to the internet.). One can learn in a day how to place malware onto another's computer remotely because it's not complicated and most users are not paying attention. It's actually kind of amazing how "huh, weird, oh well!" the mods and Microsoft are about a security flaw like that.... then again, we're all stuck with this thing because not even Microsoft knows how to uninstall itself correctly :|


In two months on a fresh install of Windows 10, I have been to this butt-smell forum at least three dozen times and only once was my question--and the original poster's question--answered. Just the once! It was not a moderator who helped; they had simply quit responding, and the OP and another user figured it out together. Bang up job again, Microsoft. Thank god the OS is not expensive anymore. Or maybe not--Windows XP was Microsoft at its best and it's been turds rolling downhill since Vista (that hill bottoms out on this very website, which is why there's nothing but **** here).

Repeatedly failing to answer what should be fairly basic questions for a moderator of a Microsoft OS website is very, very sad. Can users PLEASE at least have ChatGPT integrated into the the textbox toolbar? Because I asked ChatGPT this very same question and would you believe it came up with an answer and even continued to respond to my next queries instead of peacing out. Wow, thanks to none of the moderators at all. Here is the solution from ChatGPT3.5 (yes the depreciated one whose knowledge ends in 2021): first, try updating Windows OS through Settings > Windows Update as it contains most of your usual drivers*. If that fails, go here: Update drivers manually in Windows - Microsoft Support -- why yes, that IS a page of this website we're on! Why it was not possible for the mod or any mod or... even integrated ChatGPT (?? why not??) to offer this link as a solution next, I don't know, but perhaps nobody knew it existed before.

*******I went Settings > Check Windows Update (at the top of the settings page) > saw I had an OPTIONAL update > clicked it to see the files > ooooh a preview of Windows 10 bc MS can't figure out how to get W11 to work with an intel i7 quad core processor > beneath were 4 drivers that needed to be installed > installed these drivers > PROBLEM SOLVED. And by the way, for me, this was not really a compatibility issue because I lacked the driver completely (it's for an old thumb drive I'm using... It's really sad and stupid that Windows won't grab the appropriate driver automatically--presumably because the USB is old (from 2008)--and will instead turn off Memory Integrity then proceed to be extremely vague and general about why. It's not an exaggeration. Here is the text from the "help" page Windows points you toward (after revealing a pretty big security issue. Naturally, you'd want to hop right on the internet and test your luck instead of keeping the help files stored locally... and also making them helpful):

"Turning on the Memory integrity setting would block these incompatible drivers from loading. Because blocking these drivers might cause unwanted or unexpected behaviors, the Memory integrity setting is turned off to allow these drivers to load. If you want to restore the Memory integrity setting, you can try to resolve a driver incompatibility by seeing if an updated and compatible driver is available through Windows Update or from the driver manufacturer. Microsoft does not recommend that you delete drivers to attempt to restore this setting."

Anywho... Just use ChatGPT3.5 for your queries. At least ChatGPT won't quit answering and will see the issue through with you until the end! unless you run out of freebies, of course.

The point is the system does not identify any incompatible drivers; it merely claims their are but the screen is blank.

Microsoft need to answer why their software does not work.

Thank you for the very clear instructions.

I did Steps 1-3 with no luck. No yellow exclamation marks or other yellow marks on any items. I ran through it twice, once going down and then going back up, expanding each category. Some had very large expanded categories.

My computer is a Dell laptop, and I have the Dell Support Assist which runs a check for, among other things, drivers that have problems or need updating. Nothing showed with that either.

Can you suggest any additional steps I could take? I am concerned about any potential vulnerability in my system.

I am somewhat obsessive about updating which is one reason I was so puzzled about the issue with Memory Integrity.

Another Pii rabbit hole. Thanks microsoft. I can't get anything done because I spend 80% of my time on things like this. I have to figure out everything myself and do my work....technology is going backward

I have tried the optional drivers and it did not work. NOW THAT THIS IS A DEFCON 1 EMERGENCY I AM REALLY REALLY PISSED AT MICROSOFT.

What would happen if I uninstalled all the USB drivers. Maybe I should just uninstall everything an ddo a factory reset all for this stupid thing that has TOTALLY WRECEKD MY DAY.

I mean, every day is wrecked by this kind of stuff. I should just give up and go live in a cave.
