Critical Issues with OneDrive Live Since May 31st – Search, Embed Codes, and Sharing Not Working Properly

Since May 31st, several key features of my OneDrive Live account have stopped working or started showing critical errors.

  1. Search Functionality:
When performing a search via the OneDrive Live web browser, the system only returns one or two files, always from the year 2022, regardless of the search term used. Previously, I used to receive thousands of relevant results across different years and file types.
  2. Embed Codes Not Working:
Both the old embed codes (which I have used for years) and the new embed codes are no longer functioning. The old embeds now display the error message:
"This item won't load right now."
For new embed codes, even when I manually configure the URL to allow editing or typing, the files remain non-editable and inaccessible.
  3. Sharing Issues:
Shared folder links no longer allow external users to open individual files (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). When I share a folder with colleagues, they are prompted to log in using my personal account, which makes sharing essentially impossible.
  4. Support and Feedback Response:
I have submitted multiple feedback requests through the platform and spent over two hours in a support session with a Microsoft representative. However, more than a week has passed, and I have not received any further response or resolution.

My questions are:

  • Are these issues known to Microsoft?
  • Is there an ongoing service disruption or system update affecting OneDrive Live functionalities?
  • Is there any recommended solution or timeline for resolution?

I rely on OneDrive for professional purposes, and the current situation is making the service almost unusable.

Thank you in advance for any clarification or assistance.

I am having the same CRITICAL issue. Since May 31. my paying subscribers are getting a Microsoft generated "Something went wrong. We're having issues. Please try again later." error message when trying to access paid-for materials via Share links I post in a paid-subscriber access-only area of my website. If this continues, I will be out of business. Please get this fixed immediately!! By the way, this same thing happened some time last year, I assume when a big One Drive update went out. The problem was fixed within a few days. This time, the problem has persisted for almost a month!!

Also, most of the subscribers having this issue are outside the US.
