We ran the assistant but it did not produce a resolution.
Outlook Windows Security field keeps popping up.
I am working with a user who has been getting an error when trying to access Outlook. This only occurs with the Outlook application. He is able to access his inbox via the web portal, and he can sign into O365 to access Teams, Word, Excel, etc.
Previously, he was receiving an 80090016 error, however this now only occurs when trying to re-add his account to the device. When just trying to sign in, he will be repeatedly prompted to enter his credentials into the Windows Security field. We've confirmed his password is correct, but the Windows Security field will pop up again and prompt for his password. Clicking Cancel brings him to an error page stating "The set of folders cannot be opened".
Here is a list of resolution attempts we have taken:
- Reinstall O365
- Repair O365
- Rename the OST
- Create a new Outlook e-mail profile
- Start Outlook in Safe mode
- Delete stored credentials in Credential Manager
- Clear keys from TPM
- Remove and re-add Work or School Account
- Rename the folder C:∖users∖%username%∖AppData∖Local∖Packages∖Microsoft.AAD.BrokerPlugin_cw5n1h2txyewy
None of these have produced any results. He is still unable to bypass the Windows Security popup to sign in. This is a Windows 11 device.
