OneDrive folder syncing issue

Hi There,

I am experiencing a syncing issue.

One of my folders, which I used to have synced to my laptop, appears as a shortcut now and only opens in OneDrive online.

There is no sync button in the online version anymore.

The folder is also missing in the laptop app settings, Choose folder sync list.

I tried to unlink the laptop and reinstall the OneDrive on Windows 11.

Would anyone know how to solve this issue?

Thanks

Tomas

    Hello, Tomas

Thanks for posting your concern in Microsoft Community.

I realized that you have encountered the recent hot issue:
Shared folders appear in File Explorer in Windows as Internet shortcuts (.url) instead of physical folders.

We understand that this may have caused you some inconvenience.

Microsoft is aware of this issue and is still working on a fix. Once the issue is resolvedthe .u rl file will be automatically converted back to the folder.
For more information, see the following articles:

Add and sync shared folders with the OneDrive suite - Microsoft Support

We've considered insights from JasonChodora and Filipe Costa in the following threads, and here's an additional detail of their scenario.

Please refer to: **** we have fix to onedrive shortcut on file explorer - Microsoft Community

    1. First, log in to onedrive.live.com via a web browser.

In the root directory of the folder shared with you, select any Office document (.docx, .xlsx, .pptx, etc., **** if there is no Office document, try creating a new one from the blue "Add" button on top left corner), click the three dots - Open - Open in app.

    .
    2. In the opened Office application, click File - Home. You can see the shared file you just opened under Recent. Right-click it and choose "Copy path to clipboard."

    .
    3. Open Windows File Explorer, find "This PC" on the left, right-click and select "Add a network location." In the "Add Network Location Wizard," click Next, then click "Choose a custom network location."

    .

    .

    4. Paste the copied file path into the input box, and delete the file name portion (for example, if the path you copied is https://d.docs.live.net/xxx/xxx/ABC.xlsx, you should delete ABC.xlsx and keep the preceding part).

    5. Then, enter your OneDrive account username and password in the pop-up window (If Microsoft Account have two-step verification turned on, you'll need to get and use an App Passwords when you sign in**.** How to get and use app passwords - Microsoft Support), set a name for your folder, and click Next to complete the creation.

Please note: The above steps may not always work and are only temporary solution.

Thank you again for your patience and understanding during this time.

    Best wishes
