Last time when windows update failed to download service pack 1, I got a problem in which my pc was not shutting down even if I hit Shutdown from start> Shutdown. This problem was due to lower internet speed. (dial-up connection, 23 kbps) .So i decided to download the SP 1 manually from another pc. please guide me how to do it and install SP 1. Also provide a link.

Thank (advance).

    The most reliable and quickest way to install Windows 7 SP1 is to install manually

    Try the SP1 Download:

    <http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=c3202ce6-4056-4059-8a1b-3a9b77cdfdda >

    For 32-Bit Windows 7 download: windows6.1-KB976932-X86.exe 537.8MB

    For 64-Bit Windows 7 download: windows6.1-KB976932-X64.exe 903.2MB

    Download, *save*, and install the Service Pack with no security software (antivirus/security suite) installed, disconnect from Internet, disable the fire-wall & close all non-essential process in the task manager.

    I also recommend taking off USB keys (e.g., flash drives) or any external media as this takes place.

    When it is downloaded right-click on the file and select Run As Administrator from the menu. (Please do not use the computer while the installation is in progress)
