Document Expiration in SharePoint online

Hi everyone. I know this question has been asked many times because I've been looking for the answer to my particular situation for weeks now. I have an employee document library that I set up for my boss. It's a very simple document library because we didn't have many requirements, but now she would like to receive email reminders when employee certifications are set to expire.

  • There are different types of certifications but they are all one content type, "Document".
  • They have different expirations dates and different lengths before they expire.
  • Some documents have no expiration date at all.

I have tried SharePoint Workflow (and never been good at these to begin with) and Microsoft Flow. Something always seems to come up that keeps me from figuring how to make it work.

Is it possible for anyone to help me? I know the correct answer would be to rebuild the library properly, but it's too big to take the time to start over. I'm just the de facto SharePoint administrator so I would really appreciate any detailed help I can get. Thank you.

    Hi Tracy,

You may refer to the suggestions in threads below:

How do you get alerts when items on a list are reaching their expiry date?

Notifications for expiring documents in SharePoint Online (2016)?

If you need further help, to make sure you get the dedicated assistance, I suggest you post the question in our MSDN forum, it is the specific channel which handles this kind of questions, members and engineers there have more experience about the question and will help you further.

    Your understanding is highly appreciated.
