the update was dropped today. I got the same error a few hours ago on my Windows 10 workstation, and just now on a Windows 11 notebook. I suggest just waiting a day or two. Something went wrong with the update delivery on the Microsoft's end, I reckon.

The error's first 4 digits, 0x8007, mean it's a Win32 error, and the last 4, 0x0661 hex = 1633 dec decode as “This installation package is not supported by this processor type. Contact your product vendor.” I suspect they pushed an ARM64 package to x64 users, or messed the manifest, or something of sorts. Both my machines are x64.

You can download the update from the Update Catalog here: https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=wsl%205.10.93.2

But, unless you need it to fix a bug affecting you, better wait a day or two. This should affect quite a lot of folks, so they'll fix it quickly.

    Cheers,
