Teams Desktop app is running slow and freezing at times

While using Teams desktop app it starts to run slow, especially when several messages are incoming from different chats.

Hardware is not an issue since it is running on a 16GB DDR4 RAM and an Intel Core i7 8th Gen, Network average speed is at 25 MBPS Download, and 8.75 MBPS Upload.

This issue has been happening for several days now, drivers up to date as well as software's version.

Has someone had the same issues lately that could help me fix the issue?

Regards.

    Hi Daniel.Escudero,

Thanks for your post and let us know above information.

From your description, please sign out Teams desktop client and exit Teams completely. Go to %appdata%\Microsoft\teams\Cache and delete all the files. Then go to %appdata%\Microsoft\teams\Application Cache\Cache, delete all the files. Re-open Teams to see if this will make any improvement.

Note: please don't forget to copy all the files to a different location before you delete them.

Also, to narrow down this issue, you may try to perform a clean boot in Windows and check if there is the seem results.

In addition, as you mentioned this issue happens when several messages are incoming from different chats, to help you further, we would like to confirm the following information with you for analysis:

    1. Please sign into Teams web APP to see if there is the same issue when receiving several messages.
    2. Can you receive the chat messages?
    3. Is there any error messages if you click to check the chat message? If so, please send us a screenshoot of the error message.

    Best regards,

    Jennifer

Lol really constructive! I agree the app is slow and should not be as slow as it is. Maybe the problem is the underlaying tech used to build the app. A complete rewrite of the app in something lighter would be appreciated, especially these days when we all rely on Teams and other online comm platforms.

Yes, teams takes 3-4 minutes to load on by brand new Dell XPS I7. Latest updates, etc..

    Zoom takes about 10 seconds.

    You be the judge.
