Moving the contents of one Site to another Site in SharePoint

  1.  Is it possible to move the contents (folders and files) from one site to another?  (Or to copy from one site and then delete the original to achieve the same goal?)
  2.  Is it possible to move the contents from a team site, to a sub-site within the team site, or copy and delete as above?

I have no problem moving files and folders around within a site, but have a need to do this between sites.

    Hi Katy,

     1. Yes, it is feasible to copy or move contents from one site to another one.

    • Click Site settings > Content and structure (if you can’t find Content and structure under Site Administration, you may need to Activate SharePoint Server Publishing Infrastructure)

Also, you can visit http://yoursite/_layouts/15/sitemanager.aspx directly to step into site manager.

    • Select the site of you want to move in the left navigation pane.
    • Check the box next to the subsite you want to move in the right pane.
    • Click Actions drop-down and click Move.
    • Select Destination of the subsite selected in the next dialog box.
    1. Yes, it’s feasible to move the contents from a team site to a sub-site within the team site.

    Regards,

    William

    Hello William

    Thank you for your reply.

I didn't have the "Content and Structure" option under Site Administration.   (I was unable to activate the Server Publishing Infrastructure) as the "Activate" button was greyed out.

I tried the link you sent and got as far as selecting the site I wanted to move.  Unfortunately, the option to "Move" was greyed out under "Actions" so I suspect I simply do not have the right permissions level to perform this task.

I have kept the instructions however, as I may get the permissions required, or indeed can pass this information along to a colleague if need be, so thank you for your assistance.

    Kind regards

    Katy
