WORD Laggy after MacOS Update

Hello,

I'm a student, so I have no access to ask this question directly to Microsoft myself (i.e., the admin is my school).

But, essentially, ever since I've updated MacOS (on Macbook Air M1 2020) my Word program is extremely laggy after about 10 minutes of use. I can only write 10 minutes at a time before the words don't type synchronously, and things don't save properly.

I've done all the normal treatments - e.g., cache clearing, disabling plug-ins, getting updates for word, repaired disk, turned off animations...etc. - and nothing works. I think it's MacOS and Word not being compatible. I've downloaded an older version of Word already.

Wondering if anyone can help me!

THanks

    IMPORTANT UPDATE FROM MICROSOFT

Build 16.85.526.2 (16.85.24052614) is now available. It contains a fix for Word sometimes becoming unresponsive. We ask that users reporting the issue please update to that latest build.

Unless you're using the Beta Channel for updates there was nothing newer than 16.85 as of the date of your message,

Version 16.85.2 now is available to current Channel (Preview) but your version of macOS is behind... 14.5 is the current release.

I have MacOS Sonoma 14.4 and Word Version 16.85. This is the earlier version of word than the latest one. The latest one was giving me even more problems so I downgraded.

    Thank you!
