Spell and Grammar check not working (Word for Mac)

Hello!

Since a few months the spell and grammar check is not working on my Mac. I have the newest version of Microsoft Word.

In the language settings, I already have un-selected "do not check the spelling and grammar". And in the general settings of word, both the spelling and grammar check during typing are selected. But indeed not working.

What works is by using F7, which displays all the errors. But I would like Word to show me the errors while I am typing.

Do you know where the error is ?

I am sorry if something is not clear: I do not have the English version of Word, but I try to translate the options as good as I can.

Sorry for the inconvenience it may have caused.

Based on your description, the Spelling & Grammar feature is not work in Word for Mac.

Please check whether you turn on automatic spelling and grammar checking:Check spelling and grammar in Office (microsoft.com)

On the Word menu, click Preferences > Spelling & Grammar.
In the Spelling & Grammar dialog box, under Spelling, check or clear the Check spelling as you type box.
Under Grammar, check or clear the Check grammar as you type box.
Close the dialog box to save your changes.

However, you might try Start your Mac in Safe Mode and open Word from there to isolate issues, then check if the issue persists. If running in Safe mode, which disables all add-ins, fixes it then the problem is a bad add-in. You can refer to this article for more details.

If running in safe mode doesn't fix the problem, then you can refere to this

Close Word, open Finder.
Press Command + Shift + G, input “~/Library/Containers”,
remove com.microsoft.Wordto desktop.Press Command + Shift + G, input “~/Library/Preferences”,
remove com.microsoft.office.plistto desktop.
Open Word, and check if AutoCorrect works properly.

If the problem persists, can you please provide the version information of your Word.
