Adding Office 365 Shared Mailbox in Mac Mail

Hi there,

I've been trying to figure out how I can monitor a shared mailbox that is setup within our Office 365 account in Mac Mail. I saw a post in here from 2 years ago that said it wasn't feasible but I'm hoping that things have changed since that post.

Can anyone help me figure out how to add this shared mailbox to my Mail app on my Mac? I've found some options on some collegiate IT sites with a process using adding an IMAP account and a combination of our email address / shared mailbox but that was not successful.

Any help/guidance would be appreciated.

This can be achieved by executing the following steps:

    1. In Mail click "Mail -> Add Account"
    2. Select "Other Mail Account"
    3. Under "Name" enter the name of the shared mailbox
    4. Under "Email  Address" enter the mail address of the shared mailbox
    5. Under "Password" enter the password of your ID. Your ID needs to have full access to the shared mailbox.
    6. The first sign-in fails
    7. In the next form enter "User Name" in the following format: ******@domain.com/<sharedMailboxAlias>, e.g. ******@domain.com/info
    8. Enter the values for "Incoming Mail Server" and "Outgoing Mail Server". For the US cloud the values should be "outlook.office365.com" and "smtp.office365.com". For the German cloud both values have to point to "outlook.office.de"

    Enjoy :-)

Actually - this doesn't work. It does succeed in connecting the mailbox to the Mail app, but you cannot send or reply to email from the shared mailbox using this workaround. It is the same problem for iPhone email.

I just tested it and it works just fine. For the SMTP config you have to use your user-id without /<sharedMailboxAlias>

What is this error you get?
