Please check out How<br> to add a shared mailbox to the Outlook app on iPhone or Android for the latest information on this topic.

Hi.

Recently we were working fine with adding shared mailboxes to our iPhones. As long the user had mailbox delegation to the shared mailbox they were able to add it their iPhone using the procedure below, but recently this

Add Account

Other

Add Mail Account

Name: Name of shared mailbox

Email: email address of shared mailbox

Password: of user who has full access to shared mailbox

Description: Name of the shared mailbox - Next

IMAP

Incoming Mail Server

outlook.office365.com

Username: whoever has full access to this account\the alias name of the shared mailbox

Password: of user who has full access to shared mailbox

Outgoing Mail Server

SMTP: smtp.office365.com

Username: email address of the person who has full access to the shared mailbox

Password: of user who has full access to shared mailbox

After entering the details we get the message - The username or password for "outlook.office365.com" is incorrect.

The above has worked for past two years, but no longer.

Would be grateful if anyone has a fix for this issue.

Thanks.

Hi GeorgeBlake- [O365],

Thanks for your post. About shared mailbox show in Outlook, we have no official documents about configuring the shared mailbox to the Outlook like you mentioned, and we don’t recommend that you add shared mailbox to Outlook by using add account. Generally, the shared mailbox is automatically available in the Folder pane in user’s Outlook desktop client (if this user have full access permission for this shared mailbox).

About the shared mailbox show in the Outlook for IOS, we have no official about it and this feature is infeasible. We also would love to hear your comments and suggestions about any of teams. Send us your thoughts follow: https://outlook.uservoice.com/forums/293349-outlook-for-ios/suggestions/8557228-shared-mailboxes

Thanks for understanding.

Regards,

Richard

    Hello George,

Should be said that this is not to take away from the Official Microsoft reply...but there is a way for now unless future updates block this or better yet allow Shared Mailboxes to work in iOS Outlook as they do in the desktop version of Outlook.

Note: I suspect that this can be done in the native iOS mail app with the settings you have listed but I have not tried.  However it is much better suited to the iOS Outlook app. for my purposes as I like to keep (all things work) contained to the Outlook iOS app. (calendar and contacts specifically)

    Anyway...

Office 365 Shared Mailboxes do not have passwords by default as they are not designed to be "logged in to".  Just shared by way of adding users ("members") to the mailbox.  Then these added users will natively have access in the desktop application Outlook or via OWA.

In order to add the Shared Mailbox to an iOS device, you must login to Office 365 admin console.  Normally you would go to Shared mailboxes, select the mailbox you want, and manage the account.  Here is the trick...in this case, you need to go to "Active Users" and locate and select the account, then click on the "reset password" link/button.  Here you are really setting a password to the Shared Mailbox and not resetting it.  In the next window, you may find it easier to set your own password to something you can remember easier instead of the autogenerated one, and click "Reset". (of course I would recommend a strong password)

Note: all of the "shared mailboxes" have the 'Status' of "Unlicensed".  This is normal.

From here, go back to your iOS device and add the "shared mailbox" as you normally would a regular account.

    That's it! Cheers!!

Hello, i'm sorry for my English.

    I solved this way:

    Add Account

    Other

    Add Mail Account

    Name: TEST

    Email: ******@dominio.it

Password: of user who has full access to shared mailbox

Description: Name of the shared mailbox - Next

    IMAP

    Incoming Mail Server

    outlook.office365.com

Username: ******@domain.com/shared folder name (not all address @domain.com).

Password: of user who has full access to shared mailbox

    Outgoing Mail Server

    SMTP: smtp.office365.com

Username: email address of the person who has full access to the shared mailbox

Password: of user who has full access to shared mailbox

    in addition:

    press on SMTP

    select smtp.office365.com

    use SSL

    authentication must be selected Password

    Server Port 587.

    Then again:

    select advanced

    use SSL

    Server port 993

    so it worked for me.

Just like to add to this which may be the cause of a lot of these issues.

The IMAP method still works, only if the account doesNOT have any 2FA for MFA security on it. Otherwise it fails with password errors.

I understand, but if I need to read it on the smartphone, and I don't like the Microsoft app this is the only way.
