Audio disruption on Teams video call

The problem we are having is that when I try to speak to the group in a Teams video call, I am told that my audio is distorted and unintelligible. At first I thought the problem might be with the microphone on my Bluetooth headset, but after trying two other headsets and even using the built-in microphone on my laptop, the problem persists. How do I fix this?

    Hi Kyle,

May I know which Microsoft Teams client version you are using?

If you are not using the latest version, please update the Teams client to latest version to see whether the problem still occurs.

Regarding “I am told that my audio is distorted and unintelligible”, do you mean that you received any error message? If so, please provide us with the detailed screenshot about the issue for further analysis.

For your reference: Manage audio settings in a Teams meeting

Moreover, please try to troubleshoot this issue via using different PC *(e.g. any non-problematic colleague’s PC)*with the same headset device to determine whether it is a specific client side issue.

    Best regards,

    Shyamal

No error message. I only know there is a problem because of being informed of it by the other participants in the meeting. Muting on my end seems to cancel the distortion, but I am unable to speak.

As I mentioned above, the problem has persisted with three different headsets and also the laptop's internal microphone. And the headset works fine with other applications.

    Hi Kyle,

As you mentioned that your audio is distorted, and you cannot speak at the end. Do you mean that the participants of the video call can hear you but not clearly at first and cannot hear what you speak at the end?

If so, to narrow down this issue, I suggest you switch to another faster network environment and try again to check if the issue persists.

In addition, if you’re using the desktop version of Teams, you can check if the issue occurs in the web-based Teams app as well.

    Regards,

    Huni
