Azure Logic App Standard Cosmos DB Connector does not support Authentication Type: AAD

Hi Everybody,

We are trying to make our Cosmos DB instance in Azure a bit more secure, by giving follow up to the following security recommendation from Microsoft Defender for Cloud:

Azure Cosmos DB accounts should use Azure Active Directory as the only authentication method

We are also using a Logic App Standard Cosmos DB connector to connect to Cosmos DB and we found this connector does not support connections with AAD. This is only supported in the connector for Logic App Consumption. In standard only a connection string (with access key) is supported, Hence we are not able to implement the recommendation if we would like to keep using Logic App Standard. Does anybody know if this will be supported in the near future or does anybody know of a work-a-round for this limitation?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Peter

@Peter Lemmen Thanks for reaching out. I believe you are talking about the Build-in Azure Consmo DB connector which currently does not support the AAD authentication. The inbuild connector is still in preview and as of now there is no ETA for the consmo DB inbuild connector to be GA. I have reached out to my team to confirm if AAD authentication will be supported for the consmo DB inbuild connector and I will update my answer once I hear back from my team.

In case if you want to leverage the AAD authentication then I will suggest you to leverage the Azure consmo DB Azure connector which supports the AAD authentication for cosmo DB connector in your standard logic app.

    **Update: **
The current ETA to support AAD and GA the Cosmo DB inbuild connector by Spring 2023.
