I would think clean reinstall might fix the problem. Along with making sure there's no compatibility issue. Goodluck.
Audio not playing over primary HDMI monitor after crash
I have encountered a bizarre issue on my desktop PC after it crashed this evening: It has stopped playing audio to the primary monitor connected via HDMI. A second monitor connected via HDMI works just fine and the analog audio jack is also unaffected. The monitor plays audio fine from other sources (its own menus, live TV, etc.).
About a month ago I installed Windows 10 on the machine after installing an Elgato 4K60 Pro capture card and a Radeon RX Vega card, so there's very little extraneous software on the machine and it is primarily used for games and streaming. During a stream where I was capturing footage from my Switch through the Elgato, I got a bluescreen crash. Afterwards I noticed no issues because I was listening with headphones through the analog audio port, but after my stream concluded I noticed my primary monitor, connected with HDMI, was not playing audio. I switched the Primary audio system over to a second monitor and it played fine. Possibly related, I discovered that the sound passing through the Elgato was also not playing on the monitor.
So far I have run system restore to take the machine back to last week, removed and reinstalled drivers for the graphics card, Realtek audio, and Elgato multiple times, run chkdsk, sfc scannow, and DISM cleanups, all to no avail. At this point I am unsure what to try short of a full reinstall of Windows.
