If you install the OneDrive application for Windows, a local repository is created on your local drive. This syncs with your OneDrive cloud storage. So you have copies on both your local hard disk and in the cloud.
Does Word not save files both locally and online at the same time?
I've been working on this document that I was hoping would become my first book but I've had problems with it uploading to my OneDrive. I've had this issue before but usually it'll just save on my computer instead as long as I manually save it. This is always frustrating because then I have to rename the file and then re-save it so it's on my OneDrive again. Otherwise there will be a red X instead of the sync symbol next to the file name and it refuses any attempts to merge/update files. A few days ago, I had this issue again, re-did the process and it showed that it was saving to my OneDrive again. However, my laptop died and I go to open the file only to see the red X and that the last save was from I had reupload this. Mind you, this was two days and 5,000 words of progress lost. I know for a fact it never said it was disconnected and I also know that it will show unsaved files from the computer to restore, however, this has not happened. I did all the steps to see if I can recover any of it, but I have not seen anything. Is there really no way for Word to save a document both locally and online because this is ridiculous. I hope I'm just missing something else that wasn't listed on this page
