SCCM MECM Installation error - Fail to create SQL Server certificate on server

Hello,

I'm trying to install MECM 2203; I'm using a remote SQL 2016 Server. My service accounts for SQL are local admins on the SQL servers. I have met all requirements and all permissions are properly set, but when I try to initiate the installation it fails. I attached a screen shot. My ConfigMgrSetup.log says:

Failed to create Machine certificate on server server.name
Bootstrap operation failed.
ERROR: Failed to create SQL Server certificate on server [server.name]
ERROR: Failed to create SQL Server [server.name] certificate remotely.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Hi @OmarGutierrez-8688,

1, I did some research on your question. Please make sure the following is configured then install SCCM again:
    • The account used for the installation and the computer account of SCCM Server need to be members of the local admins group on SQL Server and need also sysadmin rights in SQL.
    • Please make sure you configure the SQL services to run under a domain user account rather than as local system or network service. Running SQL under a domain user follows MS best practices.
    • Delete the registry key which generated during installation of SCCM(HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SMS) if it already exists.

2, Please check Srvboot.log on the SQL server, if there is any information. Besides, this is very similar to a thread below for your reference:

    Looking forward to your reply.
