Please i need your help on this issue.
We have this recurring problem with MS Teams for one of our users. Using the mac. whenever the user uses teams on a call, the CPU usage is insane!
The issue always occur every time when he logged in. The user is using the MacBook pro.

I have the same issue, I have to run Teams for work but it kills my Macbook Pro (i7, discrete graphics), is there any way to make Teams act like a normal app and not spawn so many threads, hog all the memory etc? My work around to date is just to run the Teams meetings on my iPad next to my computer so I can use my computer and have a Teams call going at the same time but that doesn't let me copy/paste into the Teams chat or share my screen obviously (continuity is off since this is a corporate machine and has a different iCloud user logged in).

Try turning on Disable GPU Hardware acceleration (Found in Settings > General).

As above said, you could go to Teams client settings to select this option to see if it can be fixed.
Meanwhile, please make sure you don't open another application in your Mac device.

Are you connected to an external monitor? I have seen reports that performance in Teams get really bad when using an external monitor in Mac OS.
We are using External Monitor in Office only at home also facing same issue. Again, and again its asking for updates.

I have the same problem on the same laptop (MacBook Pro 15 2019) - 96% CPU usage via team video call.
The external monitor is not the root cause of the problem - it just adds load to the processor.

I've had the same problem on MacBook Pro 16 with M1 Pro.
it was taking around 25-30% out of 100% of CPU ...
PS. have the same issue on Intel processors
Quick hint: frick native app and switch to web version. Works SOOO much better

It is insane, I can do the same with Facetime, WebEx, Zoom, and all good there.
