Unable to Select newest image definition from host creation interface

2022-10-05T20:36:06.437+00:00

We have recently started to notice an issue when attempting to select new images created via our packer pipeline in a Compute Gallery. When a new definition is created for a VM we are not able to select the definition when we attempt to deploy a new host to our Azure Virtual Desktop Hostpool.
The Image definition ie 0.0.6 is listed in the dropdown menu but if it is selected and you hover over the now closed dropdown menu it shows the previous definition as being the selected item ie 0.0.5 instead of the correct one selected, 0.0.6.

The only solution we have found is to remove the VDAG and VPOOL and redeploy the VPOOL to allow the new definition to be selectable. We have our AVD in IaC so its not a huge deal but its definitely not expected behavior.

Is there a method we can follow to fix this?

Hello @Brad Keller (Technical Specialist - Cloud) ,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A platform. Happy to answer your question.

I understand you are unable to select newest image definition from host creation interface in AVD.
I am quite not sure about the root cause of this issue, however for a quick work around, I have a colleague who experienced this before and to fix, they have started naming the images with version 1.0.0 instead of 0.0.0. There is still a slight delay and waiting for that version number to populate but it does work.

I will check internally if there is anything that is known already for this scenario and update this post.
