RDP app in iOS no longer working with Apple pencil or any stylus. What gives?

I am a physician and use my iPad with iOS 15.7.   Following update of the Microsoft RDP app a week or 2 ago every iPad in the office regardless stopped being functional with ANY stylus connected to the iPad.  When you try to click with the stylus (either Apple Pencil or aftermarket stylus) it causes the RDP app to crash or minimize.  Using finger motion or keyboard motion works fine.  The pencil and stylus works for ALL functions outside of the RDP session.  The problem is consistent across 3 separate hardware versions of iPad (2 different iPad Air, 1 new IPad Pro).

My hosting infrastructure is MS Server 2016 and the underlying EMR is hosted on a 2008R2 server that is specific and solely used for remote access for me to the EMR

I am flummoxed and any help greatly appreciated

I'm having several problems with the Microsoft RDP iOS app on the iPad (iPad Air 4th gen with Apple Pencil 2nd gen):

The remote computer's image is simply scaled (squished) into the local iPad resolution causing a distorted image. On all my other RDP clients (non iOS) apps the remote computer's image is changed to the local client's resolution
The remote computer's cursor is offset from the RDP iOS app's cursor (touch or Apple Pencil cursor)
As soon as I touch Apple Pencil to the iPad screen in the RDP iOS app, the app crashes.

As of right now, the iOS Microsoft RDP app is completely unusable for me, which is particularly annoying as this these devices are being used in a business setting.
