Hello

Please i need your help on this issue.

There's somehow a private and public version of the Teams channel "011 - Budget, Forces, Plan".

The public version only appears on SharePoint, not on Teams. They appear to contain the same files, except for, at the very least, the 2023 SJC budget file. I confirmed the most up to date and accurate version is the 2023 budget file is located in the private channel.

The private channel exists as its own separate site. The original budget file shared was apparently on the public version of the channel, but the collaboration on the file happened on the private SharePoint site/team channel.

This is what caused confusion for our team. There are 2 different versions. I'd like to know what happened and if the public version is safe to delete.

    Hi @IBN

It's a safe bet to try deleting the public site as you have 93 days to restore the SharePoint Site if this has caused any issues. If they have separate SharePoint URLs then they are not the same SharePoint site.

    Hi @IBN

The public version only appears on SharePoint, not on Teams.

Is the public channel only in SharePoint, or is the file in the channel only in SharePoint? Could you provide a screenshot?

I agree with the above, when you create a new team or private or shared channel in Microsoft Teams, a team site in SharePoint gets automatically created. The schematic diagram is as follows.

Sites exist independently, so they can be deleted. And deleted SharePoint sites are retained for 93 days. For more details about store files in Teams or SharePoint, you could refer to this article.
