Linux update repositories

Hi,
we are planning to start testing Linux vms in Azure but are wondering what the public repositories for are different Linux distributions? Do MS have 'private public' update repositories? I found out that at least Ubuntu has own in the address azure.archive.ubuntu.com but how about the rest that are supported in Azure Update Management?

Virtual machines in the Azure Marketplace are VHD's that have been created by the publisher (Microsoft, Ubuntu, Red Hat etc) and stored in Partner owned storage account that is enabled for sharing these images with the customer. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/marketplace/azure-vm-use-own-image

Long and short, there isn't one repository of images hosted and controlled by Microsoft, but multiple depending on who the image publisher is.

You said that there are multiple repositories depending on publisher but are repositories documented because I could not find anything? Or should I spin up different publishers vms and look them up one by one?

No, you do not get direct access to the storage account where these are hosted. If you wish to understand what is in the image, either spin up a VM or reach out to the publisher directly.
