Azure Lab Services - DNS change in template not reflected after publishing to pool?

I am trialling Azure Lab Services with a view to using it in the classroom at our school. As a school we need some form of web filtering for safeguarding. If I set the DNS in the Lab Template to openDNS IP addresses it works perfectly. However when I publish the template to the user pool the DNS reverts to a Microsoft one (the gateway usually) and the web filtering is no longer in place. Is there any way to preserve the DNS change after publishing the template to the user pool?
