When I power on asus rog gx501 I'm prompted for a password. As far as I know there is no admin password for the bios and believe the user password is what its asking for but i dont know it. Is there an easy fix for this problem? I've read about "backdoor passwords". Where can I find these?

Have you enabled Bitlocker PIN of your drive ?
Also ,If the password prompt is at Boot screen then I would suggest you to try to reset BIOS to factory level. or try to contact to Vendor of the laptop to how to remove the boot password.
