I am an ordinary computer user who does not understand the advantages of Microsoft Azure. Why am I being charged £12-£13 a month for this Azure thing?

I have tried listening to an introduction to Azure and did not understand a word of it. I do not know what I am getting for my subscription. I have tried to cancel my subscription but the recommended method of going to the main page and selecting my subscription does not work: the main page reports that I do not have any subscription. Please help, ideally in plain english. Is a subscription to Azure necessary to obtain cloud storage? I do not require any fancy business software or research tools. I am just a private user of Windows 10 and seem to have slipped into a monthly payment without knowing why.
