.Net 6 on Visual Studio for MAC for existing Xamarin.Android and Xamarin.iOS apps

Hello,

I have two existing applications, Xamarin Android and Xamarin iOS that I want to integrate with .NET 6.
There are sources on the web on how to go about it when using Visual Studio for Windows.
However, I can't find any information on how to go about it on Visual Studio for Mac.
I have the latest version (at the time of writing 17.4) and the two new templates available on VS for Windows are not present on VS for Mac.
Is still on going work that needs to be carried out? Is this something that will be supported only on VS for Windows?
Any input will be highly appreciated!

    OK ,answering my own question for anyone landing here

    MAUI needs to be installed and the corresponding templates for distinct iOS and Android apps will appear just like in VS for Windows!

    To install the MAUI workload the VS installer must be downloaded and the instructions described here should be followed:
