Java SE WebApp displaying in plain test whan accessed via Application Gateway

I have deployed standard Java SE WebApp and set its url as an Application Gateway backend, but it's not displaying the page properly. It's showing plain html test instead pictures and formatted text etc.

The WebApp has no additional configuration, and no additional code deployed.

The Web App is displaying content properly when accessed directly (without AppGW)

The issue disappears when I change the WebApp stack to .net for example, or any other stack. It seems to be a problem only with Java SE.

Just to clarify what I mean by plain text:

<html lang="en">
<meta charset="utf-8">
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0">
<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=edge">
<title>Microsoft Azure App Service - Welcome</title>
........ and so on.

Have somebody experience anything similar? Do you have any suggestions?
