I added a 365 account last week and today after checking the deleted items retention period for all the accounts in org, I noticed that the recently added account displayed no name but the ExternalDirectoryObjectId instead.
Is there any reason for this?

So, if I need to change the deleted item retention using the Set-Mailbox -Identity "Emily Maier" -RetainDeletedItemsFor 30 cmdlet for a specific account, which attribute do I need to use from now on? DisplayName, EDOID or Alias?
One more offtopic question: Can I change deleted items retention for a shared mailbox?
Any of these attributes would do, though I wouldn't recommend using Display Name as it's not unique-valued. UPN/PrimarySMTPAddress is the one I prefer, even alias in some cases.
And yes, you can change it for shared mailboxes too.
Will this applies to a Office 365 only tenant also ? I have Office 365 only tenant and I'm experiencing this.
