Is it possible to configure CRM 2015 OnPremise to use ServerSideSync without CRM setup for IFD?

Hi,

I am looking to see if this is possible.

My customer has CRM 2015 (Version 7.0.3.157) on premise on a Windows 2012 R2 VM. They do not have Claims Based Authenticate or IFD setup. CRM is accessed locally using http (no certs in place). With the changes Microsoft have made to stop TLS the E-Mail router is no longer working for them and they need to change over the ServerSideSync. However this is proving to be not straightforward and I wanted to get clarification on some requirements:

1) Is it possible to setup ServerSideSync with CRM 2015 or does it need to be upgraded to D365 (8.2 or higher)

2) Does IFD need to be setup? as I get an error message around S2STokenIssuer when running the CertificationReconfiguration.ps1 script

3) Is anything else required to set up ServerSideSync?

Any clarification would be greatly appreciated as I see conflicting advice on Forums and no clear statement either way on the Microsoft documentation.

thank you

Richard

Dynamics CRM is not currently supported here on Q&A. The product group for Dynamics actively monitors questions over at
