Enabling Continuous Availability

Quick Question, I want to enable continuous availability for a share on a Server 2016 failover cluster.

Will this require a restart of the cluster service, the server, or result in an interruption to the file connections?

Thanks

    Hi,

I couldn't find the exact answer for this for Server 2016, but could somewhat find an answer for Server 2022.

A restart of the cluster service or server shouldn't be required as you just add continuous availability, which is not a new role or feature, just a subfeature.

Regarding interruption, I am not sure, I think not, but I haven't found any KB item to support my thoughts.

    Hope this helps!

    Hey,

There is not much information about interruption, but you definitely won't need to restart cluster service. You add it as a new role in the cluster, so it doesn't require a restart.

You should have shared storage, which will be used for a file share. The following article covers the configuration process of file share and ha storage.

Jelle and Alex, Thanks for helping out.

After reading your responses. I decided to enable the setting and no problems occurred.
