Win10 Azure VM joined to on-prem AD , is not listed in AAD under Devices

HI,

I have created a Azure VM Win10 Multi-Session OS , which is not getting listed under the Azure AD --Devices -- All Devices section

I thought it would get treated as Hybrid AD joined , but it does not show up under Devices , unless it is Azure AD joined.

You can configure Azure AD join for all Windows 11 and Windows 10 devices except for Home editions. Have you tried a home edition of Windows 10?

its not a Windows 10 Home edition

i have windows 10 Multisession OS for my Azure VM and i joined it to Azure AD . WHen creating Azure VM , there is an option to tick a checkbox, where in we select login with Azure AD

If you were expecting your on-premises domain joined VM to be shown under devices section as hybrid azure AD joined then, you should have configured hybrid Azure AD join setup in your on-premises environment.

You can check the output of command dsregcmd /status.
This command would give you the result depending on which you can identify where is the device joined to.

i am aware of the command dsregcmd /status earlier itself.

when i do dsregcmd /status , it says the VM is joined to on-prem AD

But what are the possible reasons that this Azure VM , which is joined to on-prem AD, does not show up in Devices ?

When you create a VM with option "login with Azure AD" option checked, the VM get's azure AD joined to Azure. But if you have joined the VM to on-premises domain then this VM will not get joined to Azure as Azure AD joined.

For Azure AD joined device, the VM should not be joined to any on-premises domain.
