Azure AD (cloud) not syncing with 365

Hello, folks.

I am a non-techie, so please be patient.

Our Azure AD Free (cloud based, not on premise) doesn't seem to be syncing with Office 365. We don't have AD Connect set up.

How I know there's a problem with the sync: I edited an attribute in AD for all users individually, and the updated info is not showing up in Teams. I made these changes on Tuesday; it's now Friday and the changes are still not seen in Teams. In the past, data seemed to sync fairly quickly (within an hour).

All the answers I have Googled so far regarding syncing deal with AD Connect, which we do not have set up. HELP!
