The payment card for an Azure AD expired, so wondering what happens to the Premium P1/P2/Basic user assignments in that tenant?

    Hello @Ijaz M

Thank you for reaching out. Azure AD Premium License Payment works little bit differently when compared to Azure Pay-As-You-Go Subscription. If your payment method on the account is expired or due for payment, then once the Azure AD Premium P2 license term expires, then Azure AD tenant automatically reverts back to free version if is being utilized by some other service. Complete details about this is mentioned on below article:

You should be able to manage payment methods for license-based subscription from Office Admin Center: https://admin.microsoft.com/.

You can also refer following Azure QnA post for more details Azure AD Premium License lifecycle: Delete Azure Active Directory Premium P2 trial

    I hope this helps you.

    Hi,

If the card is expired you should get a notification on the payment and If your payment isn't received or if Microsoft can't process your payment, you'll get an email and see an alert in the Azure portal telling you that your subscription is past due. The email contains a link that takes you to the Settle balance page.

You will get enough notifications and mails, If the selected payment method also has outstanding charges for Microsoft services, this will be reflected in the total outstanding balance. You must pay those outstanding charges, too.The service is canceled and your resources are no longer available. Your Azure data is deleted 90 days after the service is terminated.

    Hope this helps.
