Azure microsoft defender for cloud

I have configured Microsoft defender for cloud in my azure subscription and selected azure vm .
Post that i can see new extensions in azure vm like the mde one.

Do i need to install Microsoft ATP software on my azure windows servers to complete the configuration of defender for cloud. Or just the fact that i am able to see the new extensions like mde on my azure VM,is enough to say my configuration is completed

    The MDE extension will activate your systems. You should see them listed soon in the security.microsoft.com portal.
