Convert local Windows 10 account to a work Microsoft Account

I previously setup local accounts on a couple of PCs in the office; a couple of those computers have Win10 and one with Win11. I'm trying to convert those local accounts to Microsoft accounts using the work email addresses for each employee. When I enter the work email address, I receive the message "That Microsoft account doesn't exist. Enter a different account or get a new one".

I know the accounts exist since I have set my own work computers (desktop & laptop) with Microsoft accounts using my work email address. I also was successful setting up one employee's new laptop with a Microsoft account using their work email address. Those computers state they are "Connected to COMPANY's Azure AD".

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Hi @Gus Kreuzkamp , from this thread:

"Try to use a local account for login, then go to Settings > Accounts > Your info (in some versions, it may be under Email & accounts instead).
Select Sign in with a Microsoft account instead, enter your Microsoft account credential for switching.

The error "Microsoft Account does not exist" usually means:

The person is logging in using an Alias. If the user renamed the affected email address into a new account, the original account will become an Alias. Thus logging in using the original account (Alias) will trigger the system to prompt the user that it does not exist. The solution is to log in using the new account.
    "

Please try this method (log in with new local account and change it back to online account) and let me know if it works. If not I can help you further.

If this answer helped you please mark it as "Verified" so other users can reference it.

    Thank you,
    James
