Windows Server 2016 Essentials Backup Database

I have a drive that is keeping the files for what I think in the internal pointers for backups. This is that the drive that houses the actual backups. Anyway, the drive is filling up and I need to change out that drive for a larger one. Can I just remove the almost full drive and replace it with a larger one? Will Windows recreate the machine names and directories that are needed? I am not concerned with the backups themselves. I will create a fresh backup for each machine.

Thanks.
