How client get the intermediate CA cert?

if local store have a sub CA cert, Web server provide a newer (renewed sub CA), and AIA link has a newest (renewed sub CA again),
what is the behavior? priority

    Client will use provided by web server issuer. AIA is attempted only when no issuer candidate was found locally.
