Did you figure this out? I am having a similar issue. I have member servers that I can't RDP it keeps asking for the password even though I entered it correctly. But if I remote the server by IP I can login ok.
The logon attempt failed with FQDN but allowed with IP?
I am using 2008 R2 Domain controller, running in a datacenter. Since October 22, I am unable to RDP to all the VMs hosted in the datacenter using the FQDN from on-prem office location system. But with the IP of VM I am able to RDP into the VMs.
When we are trying with FQDN we get the prompt to enter the password, but after entering the correct username and password it fails and shows "The logon attempt failed".
This is also happening from few location and not all locations. There is a location from where we are able to access all this VMs hosted in Datacenter without this error. The datacenter and on-prem office locations are connected via MPLS and no firewall rules are also applied. Unable to find the reason why its failing with FQDN but working with IP address. ?
