Configure network access error

Question

In Exercise - Configure network access Task 1 after I run “curl --connect-timeout 5 http://$IPADDRESS” command instead of getting an output “ curl: (28) Connection timed out after 5001 milliseconds”
I get - “curl: (3) URL using bad/illegal format or missing URL” output.
As a result the rest of the commands didn’t work and I couldn’t exercise with remaining Tasks.
What is wrong here and how I can proceed?

Why am I receiving a curl: (3) URL using bad/illegal format or missing URL error?
If it's been more than an hour since you completed the prerequisite, Unit 3 - Exercise - Create an Azure Virtual Machine, your VM will have been automatically deleted and you'll get a curl: (3) URL using bad/illegal format or missing URL error on Task 1, Step 2. Complete the prerequisite to create a virtual machine in Unit 3, and then complete this unit before an hour is up.

Complete the prerequisite less than an hour before working on this unit so that your VM isn't automatically deleted
