We have Windows 2012 R2 and Exchange 2013 setup. After a recent patch to Exchange, the message queue mmc snap-in stopped working in Exchange Toolbox.

See the errors below:

I have tried googling the answer but there is not much about this particular issue.

Has anyone come across something similar?

Thank you.

Thank you for all your responses.

I have found the reason. November SU broke it, see the article here: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/exchange-team-blog/released-november-2022-exchange-server-security-updates/ba-p/3669045

Microsoft broke it and there is no fix yet.

Feel free to close this thread, please.

    Hi @ShamVMH ,
Did you install the security update for CU23 as well? If not, I recommend that you install it.
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/description-of-the-security-update-for-microsoft-exchange-server-2019-2016-and-2013-november-8-2022-kb5019758-2b3b039b-68b9-4f35-9064-6b286f495b1d
Have you tried using powershell to manage the queue and see if any error returned? Refer to: Use the Shell to view queues
I also suggest you check application log in event viewer and the ExchangeSetupLog , you could share more information here for further troubleshooting.

I have checked and .NET 4.7.2 is already installed same as all listed software.

Do you think of any other possible things to check?

I was searching for possible fixes but the ones I could find are already implemented on the server.

    Thank you.

    Thank you for your response.
There is already CU23 installed and recent patches were only security ones.

We will go through the software list and see if we missing anything.

    Hi @ShamVMH ,
What is your Exchange 2013 version? If it is not the latest version, you could try to install the latest CU23: Updates for Exchange 2013
You need to check if the prerequisites are installed correctly, there is a similar error reported in relation to: Error (MMC has detected an error in a snap-in and will unload it) when you try to launch VAMT 3.0 on a Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2-based computer
    Refer to: Exchange 2013 prerequisites
