Conditional forwarder sub domain

Hello there,

we have a internet disconnected environment. Therefore we use conditional forwarders to forward traffic to a connected DNS server.
Most of my forwarders work. for instance. I have added azure.com as a forwarder, which resolves fine. However, now I need to resolve a subdomain, opinsights.azure.com and it does not resolve.

Why is this failing?
