Good day, we have had a crisis with both our domain controllers crashing. the one with FSMO roles has tombstone lifetime expired. The one that was working apparently ended up crashing completely and have no ractive directory information. ran backup to restore to a new VM. however not sure how i can access that VM or how to restore the active directory.

Could someone please advise. I have tried getting onto the last working machine and trying RDP from there. but it wont connect. Connected via vpn and tried rdp from the client machine. still not able to. have a crisis that needs to be sorted out , because users wont be able to connect to any of the shared folders on the azure vm for files.

i dont have much luck. newbie to azure. so still exploring. The VM that crashed was one of the domain controllers and with that ability to login to any of the other VMs has been lost.

The backup available doesn't seem to have done the job. The newly created restored VM has been trying to boot for the last one hour with message getting windows ready on the blue screen.

These are unmanaged disks. so not sure how to get that off to a testvm and try to remove the troublesome updates. reading through technet to figureout a plan of action.

thanks for checking in. this is all in azure
