Azure fraudulent subscription charges

My credit card is being fraudulently used to pay for a USD29 monthly subscription to Microsoft Azure. My credit card provider has repeatedly tried to block these charges, but they continue to recur. My credit card repeatedly refunds the fraudulent charges, cancels my card and issues a new one, but the monthly subscription charge continues on to the new card. I am not an Azure user at all. Who should I contact to address ?

All Azure customers have access to billing and subscription management support. So create a ticket here.

    Hi,

To start, I recommend you contact the bank that issues your card and report the charges as fraudulent (as you have done previously), and perhaps even ask for new number to be issued.

ADDITIONALLY, you should notify them (your bank) that you want to OPT-OUT of the account updater service immediately. The updater service has different names which depends on the type of card. For example, for Visa it is called Visa Account Updater (VAU), for Mastercard it is called Automatic Billing Updater (ABU), for American Express it is named Cardrefresher, and for Discover it is Global Network Account Updater. By opting out, you are instructing your bank NOT to automatically send changes so that merchants with your card on file can update their records.

One question to ask is, if you opt-out of the updater service AND change your cc account number on the same phone call, will the change be sent before your opt-out request takes effect? Understand the downsides to opting out in that if your card expires or you get a new card number you will need to manually notify merchants of the new information. Perhaps after six months it would be safe for you to re-enable the update service if you want.

As for Azure, perhaps you could contact Azure sales by phone, explain your situation, and ask if they can put you in touch with the correct department by phone since you don't have an account to open a support case under.

Ok, then you'll probably need to take this up with the card service provider. You can also try calling here.
