I keep trying to use command prompt and when I do the command correctly it will not work
Any example or other details? What's the end goal?

Hello,
I keep trying to use command prompt and when I do the command correctly it will not work. I have to watch a Youtube video about it and then the exact same thing I did before watching the video works.
In reality it makes me feel stupid because I will do things right and it does not work for me. Then I think I'm not understanding something that I do.

PS what are the folders in the dir that are labeled . and ..?

The first issued happened with not being able to change directories. I was only able view the directory of all of the drive and could not specify the path . I did not write down the statement saying something along the lines of not found.
I started with
cd C:\UsersIt appears to be working now.
When I run chkdsk it shows no bad sectors and I know that is not always accurate.
I started this because after restoring my device to my last restore point I got a corrupted hard drive pop up. Windows is taking a while to get to the loggon screen ( black screen with HP logo and spinning dots). I also have a negative transfer rate for my optical drive. But I get a pop up that says I have files waiting to be transfer via the optical drive.
