Print server issues - Citrix print jobs

Hi everyone,

my organisation has problems with printing tasks from Citrix environment. It looks like print server receiving print job from Citrix application, then it is spooled in printer queue with status "sent to printer" but more than 50% of print jobs just stacking with this status and i can not find them on printing log on the device.

When i was trying to search print spooler log i found that job is spooling, getting error and then after few seconds there is information that job has been rendered and deleted.

Most difficult in this case is that this affects only on jobs sent from Citrix environment apps and not for every job (for example if first and second print job has not printed if you retry several times it will finally print without any error). Also we noticed that sometimes print jobs are not printed correctly - for example if you have print job with 10 pages it will print pages 1,2,3,6,7,,9,10 etc.

Normal user desktop printing is working fine - if users prints directly from their laptops/desktops it will always work properly so problem occurs only with print jobs from Citrix applications. Also we are using several types of devices so different printing drivers and print processors has been tested with same results.

Additionally, nothing has changed on Citrix servers and Print server regarding windows updates or any other patches.

On the print server there are also few more services regarding printing which are Citrix Universal Printing Service, Citrix XTE Server and LPD Service but i do not have knowledge how it has been set up (two first can be cause).

If you have any idea or maybe faced similar problem please support

Based on my experience, the HP Universal printer does not work well with Citrix on many scenarios. You should try the Citrix universal printer driver policy

    Hello,

Error code "5" means "Access denied".
I am not a Citrix specialist and if you don't get any helpful support, you can try some of the solutions I found with my tool PrintMulti (www.lvbprint.de).

    • Use a different driver based on the Windows Unidrv architecture. You may want to use "Windows Update" when installing a driver, as this offers version 3 drivers.
    • Give all users rights to the registry path "HKEY_USERS.DEFAULT". Some printer drivers write information to this location and do not have the right from a print processor.
    • Start PrintManagement.msc and assign the isolation mode "Isolated" or "Shared" to the driver. I assume this has nothing to do with the isolation mode in the error message
    • Give more permissions to the folder "c:\windows\temp".

You can try sysinternals ProcMon to find out which file is causing the problem
